Foligno (abdomen) underwent core muscle surgery Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the season.
Foligno is expected to be shut down for the season and undergo surgery to address his lower-body injury, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Saturday.
The younger of former NHL winger Mike Foligno's two hockey-playing sons is bigger than his dad, but not as skilled offensively. He plays a north-south game and will get in on the forecheck to make life miserable for opposing defensemen. He can kill penalties and play a shutdown game, and even his offensive game has matured with experience. Is valuable in any game situation.
Long Range Potential: Big, tough all-around forward.
